STEPS
1

Interests and areas to explore further can come from reflecting on your life, the lives of others, as well as from looking out into the world around you. List out a few things that inspire you. Start with the W’s: who inspires you (people), what inspires you (things), when where you inspired (experiences), and where have you been inspired (places). List as many as come to your mind in this worksheet.

2

Based on inspiration from your worksheet, now create a visual inspiration board. This might take the form of a collage, sketches, or if you prefer to do it digitally, a Pinterest board, Instagram story, or collection of photos.

3

Turning inspiration into action comes from understanding why you feel inspired by something. Pick one piece of inspiration that you’re excited about. Ask yourself:

INSPIrATION FROM AROUND YOU

Why i’m inspired

I’m inspired by my plant. I admire watching small growth each day and seeing little changes as it develops. All it needs is water and a little light. It’s nice to care for a living thing

how i can learn from this

My plant reminds me that I need to take care of myself a little bit each day to continue to grow.

What i want to try next

This inspires me to celebrate small moments of growth in my own life and to check in with myself — do I need water? Food? Sunlight? What could help ME thrive?

REFLECT

Why i’m inspired

how i can learn from this

What i want to try next

4

When you examine why certain people, places, things, or experiences inspire you, you can uncover new interests to explore. Read through your previous reflection in Step 3 and select 2-3 new interests you want to learn more about. You can return to your inspiration board and repeat this process whenever you are searching for new areas to explore or wondering what undiscovered interests you might have.

HABITS

Make time to daydream

Especially in a fast paced world, it can be challenging to give ourselves time to let our minds wander, but daydreaming can actually boost our productivity and creativity. Try scheduling 10 minutes into your day where you have nothing to do except wonder and get lost in your thoughts.

Keep an idea journal

Ideas come to us at all kinds of moments— when we’re walking, talking with a friend, working out, or even in our dreams. Start an idea journal where you can record rogue thoughts and random ideas. Doodle, draw, write, or collect pieces of inspiration to expand on and think through your ideas.

Get out of the ordinary

When you see the same people, places, and things everyday, your ideas might be limited by your own comfort zone. How might you immerse yourself in a completely different environment this week? Shake up your routine, surround yourself with new people, and see the world from a different lens.
